MBPJ slaps oBike with RM17,000 fine for obstruction of public spaces

SHAH ALAM: oBike Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be slapped with a RM17,000 fine for obstruction in public places after more than 250 of its bicycles were found scattered on the sidewalks and roadsides of Petaling Jaya late last month. The confiscation was carried out following the inaction of oBike to remove the bicycles after a notice was issued by MBPJ on Aug 25. “The operation of oBike is unlicensed and as such the enforcement taken follows the existing standard operating procedure (SOP). The bicycles can be claimed by oBike with the fine that will be issued. If oBike wants to appeal, they are allowed to do so in accordance to the existing regulation.
