MACC nabs 2nd senior DOSH officer over bribery scandal


JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested another senior officer from the Occupational Safety and Health Department (DOSH) for allegedly receiving gratification for allowing a petroleum engineering company to install equipment without official approval. The 47-year-old suspect, a deputy director with the Department, was arrested at the Johor MACC officer here at about 11pm on Friday, according to a statement from the Commission. The other suspect, an assistant director with the Department, was arrested on Nov 1 for allegedly soliciting and receiving RM30,000 in bribe money from the project director over the issue. Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest. The case is being probed under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
