KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) did not carry out investigation in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) matter as relevant authorities were probing the case. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan said in a written reply on Nov 1 that the investigation had been done by Bank Negara and related officials. However, MACC had probed SRC International and the donation RM2.6 billion donation received by the Prime Minister while 1MDB and other organisations has been fined a total of RM115.8 million for non-compliance with the FInancial Services Act by Bank Negara. PAC tabled a 106-page 1MDB governance management control report to the Dewan Rakyat with its committee consisting of Barisan Nasional and opposition members of Parliament in April last year. The police probed the state-owned fund under section 409 of Penal Code for criminal breach of trust and section 420 on cheating.
