M Siraj Mia, principal secretary of the Chief Adviser’s Office, has been appointed as the new cabinet secretary. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Saturday confirming the contractual appointment, which takes effect immediately. As the new Cabinet Secretary, M Siraj Mia will oversee the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Members of Parliament and the incoming cabinet. He succeeds Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, who resigned from the post on Saturday.
