In a move that caught many by surprise, Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa announced stepping down from his position as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting on Monday. I requested the honourable Prime Minister to relinquish me from the additional portfolio of SAPM on Info & broadcasting. He very kindly approved my request — Asim Saleem Bajwa (@AsimSBajwa) October 12, 2020Earlier, on September 3, Lt Gen Bajwa had announced that he would resign from the post of SAPM, but would continue serving as the chairman of CPEC Authority. He said that he would submit his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, the premier rejected his resignation, expressing satisfaction with the evidence and explanation given by Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa and asked him to continue working as his special assistant.
