READER REPORT: Let's 'Love Rugby, Respect Everyone', not just women ANDREW STEVENSON123RF.COM "I respect women, but I don’t respect stereotyping and people who pick and choose which victims of violence and discrimination they defend and support." Following the Chiefs rugby team's stripper scandal, an open letter has been written by the Human Rights Commission to New Zealand Rugby management and board members, urging them to address how "rugby culture" treats women. The letter urges other Kiwis to add their name to it to show they "love rugby, respect women". I won't support this campaign because although I respect women, I do not respect the selective outrage displayed by these women and their supporters. It is for these reasons, along with the many others I could give, I won’t be putting my name to the Love Rugby, Respect Women open letter.
