Loudoun Valley earns state championship bid with win over George Washington

After cruising to a dominant win over defending state champion Monacan in the Virginia High School League 4A quarterfinals, No. 12 Loudoun Valley hit its first speed bump during the second quarter of Saturday’s semifinal against George Washington-Danville. “In the second quarter, I think we gave up too many easy buckets for them, and we weren’t really getting back well on defense,” Ball said. Even though the game was still too close for comfort until the second half, the Vikings blew open the lead and steamrollered George Washington in the second half, leading to a 75-43 victory that resulted in a state title game invitation. Ball stayed hot and Miller got rolling as the Vikings ballooned the lead to 15 points heading into the final frame.
