The Air New Zealand plane landed safely at Tauranga Airport after one of its engines failed. Hannah Cheal was watching a movie on the flight from Wellington to Tauranga on Friday when she heard a loud bang and saw smoke coming from the engine. Cheal said plane started to swing side to side dramatically as it came in to land at Tauranga airport. Tauranga Airport manager Ray Dumble said they were notified of the issue by Air NZ staff and activated their emergency protocols. Dumble said passengers were invited to speak to Air NZ staff about he flight and issues on board when the plane landed.
