OTTAWA — Longtime Conservative MP Gord Brown was remembered Wednesday as a “consummate team player,” a “quintessential happy warrior,” and doting dad and loving husband who represented his eastern Ontario riding for 14 years. Fellow Conservative MP Ed Fast (Abbotsford) said that he and his caucus mates were still trying to digest the news. He said Brown’s death will leave a huge hole in the Conservative caucus and on Parliament Hill. As two veterans of the party, they had “shared victories and shared defeats.”He said Brown’s death is “another lesson” about political life. After the 2015 election, Brown served as the Conservatives’ chief whip under interim leader Rona Ambrose.
