Photo: Daniel BirchfieldIt was a 50:50 call, but Saturday’s Laneway Long Lunch remained as it was meant to be — an al fresco dining experience. About 40 people dined at a long table laid out on Harbour St with the Victorian precinct as a backdrop at the second edition of the fundraiser, this year raising money for the North Otago Cancer Society. Mr Smith said consideration was given to holding the three-hour lunch inside the Loan and Merc building, given the threat of rain. "We half set up inside and at 10am we made the decision to head out here, because the weather was meant to improve. The idea for the long lunch came from Mr Smith and Oamaru restaurateur Sally-Ann Donnelly.
