The new research tracked people classed as 'low risk' due to their age and health and found many still battling symptoms - and some with multiple organ damage. Nearly three-quarters of the Coverscan study participants were found to be living with damage to one or more organs. Around one-quarter of the people in the study had damage to multiple organs. The researchers added the caveat that they could not be certain the participants had not had previously unknown organ damage before contracting coronavirus. He added: “I think this is a first step in a long journey towards providing some kind of mechanism [for their symptoms], and eventually some therapeutics for people with long Covid.”
