The incident occurring in Bajitpur village under Baraigram upazila has sparked much criticism among locals on Thursday. “For quite some time, over a hundred Shamuk Khol birds have been inhabiting the trees and bamboo groves in Bajitpur. Meanwhile, over a hundred Shamuk Khol birds were also injured by the inclement weather at Shamskhalsi village birds' sanctuary under Naldanga upazila of Natore district. “When I heard some locals snatched five of the injured birds, I tracked them down and released the birds into safety,” said Jewel Rana, a local bird enthusiast.
