Residents of Lokhandwala, Andheri are fighting​ battles​ on two fronts simultaneously to save the lesser known 4.5 acre fresh water body in their area called the Lokhandwala lake. Meanwhile, Lekhi said that they had heard about their local MLA Dr Bharti Lavhekar proposing the lake’s beautification and have praised the intention. However, the residents will oppose it tooth and nail. The citizens’ body clearly states that they do not want a lake with concrete embankments, boating or fountains that will destroy the lake’s ecosystem. “If they want to develop the lake all they need to do is clear the debris and install chain link fencing around the mangroves.
