Russell’s mount finished down the field, however, as O’Neill drove Potter Point to a half-length defeat of Joseph O’Brien’s Arkwrisht, who, like the winner, carried the colours of leading owner Michael O’Leary. “I’m getting fond of Listowel,” O’Neill said, “and it’s just great to be getting these opportunities. Winning this race twice and also Tiger Roll at Cheltenham is fantastic, but I’m very privileged to be part of a great team. “I’m 45 in two weeks’ time and I left home when I was 15, so I was a jockey for almost 30 years. It takes a little getting away from, but I do a jockey-coaching job and that keeps me a bit involved.
