more-inA powerman of the Hubli electricity supply company died of an electric shock when he fell on a power line while repairing a transformer in Bailur in Belagavi district on Wednesday. Eeranna Tigadi, 27, a power line maintenance man with the Kittur division, climbed on a transformer after seeking line clear (LC) or zero power transmission on the line he was working on. However, power started flowing in one of the lines and he received a shock. He fell on another line and died in an instant. HESCOM officials maintained that the powerman had not obtained LC for his work and that he was not wearing protective gear, which is mandated by the company’s rules.
