GEORGE TOWN: Lim Guan Eng’s wife Betty Chew will be charged at the Butterworth court on Tuesday, believed to be over a land conversion deal and the purchase of a bungalow below market price. Lawyer Lee Khai said Chew, who was arrested and released on RM50,000 bail yesterday, would be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001 (Amla). Accompanied by Lim’s sister Lim Hui Ying, who is Penang DAP secretary, she spent almost seven hours at the MACC office before posting bail. Meanwhile, sources said businesswoman Phang Li Koon was arrested by MACC in Penang Thursday night and is now out on RM50,000 bail. Chew (left) and Phang are expected to be charged together.
