(file photo)Power has been restored to about 420 Hāwera customers after a lightning strike took out the electricity supply earlier today. Contractors are still assessing the extent of any damage to the network, Powerco network operations manager Karen Frew said in a statement. Power was also cut in Pātea and Waitara on Tuesday. In Pātea, 18 homes were without power at 12.42pm after damaged to Powerco equipment. In Waitara, power was cut as a result of trees falling onto lines about 10.41am.
