Lightning delays Syracuse-Louisville game for 43 minutes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A severe thunderstorm with lightning and high winds caused a 43-minute delay in Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference game between Syracuse and Louisville. The host Cardinals led 21-3 with 10:39 remaining in the second quarter when the game was stopped. Driving rain arrived early in the first quarter and continued into the second before reports of lightning in the area led officials to stop the contest. Though skies remained overcast, rain subsided for Louisville and Syracuse to return to the field and for spectators to return to their seats. Before the delay, Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson had accounted for 212 yards of offence, including a 43-yard touchdown run.
