When the accused tried to set his father and brother on fire, an employee of his shop died Assailing the order, Sureshkumar moved the High Court. His father and brother escaped with injuries, but while rescuing the brother’s family, Dhandapani, an employee of the shop, died. The accused was arrested and convicted for life sentence under Section 436 (Mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 302 (Murder), and 307 (Attempt to murder) (Four counts) of IPC. According to the prosecution, Sureshkumar had poured petrol on his father and brother when they were in their jewellery shop in Namakkal in 2009.
