BUTTERWORTH: All hawkers on mainland Penang need not pay licence fees this year. Seberang Prai Municipal Council president Datuk Rozali Mohamud (pic) said hawkers would still need to renew or apply for their licences but need not pay for them. Announcing this ‘goodie’, he said the exemption involved about RM130,000 in hawker licence fees this year. “So far 631 licensed hawkers have paid a total of RM16,987 to renew their licences. He, however, urged the hawkers not to take the exemption for granted, adding that those found without valid licences by council enforcers would be fined.
