(MENAFN) A number of 79 unlawful migrants have been saved and another 8 disappeared off Libyan coast stated the International Organization for Migration (IOM) On Sunday, Jan. 3. The UN body posted on Twitter: "IOM staff are providing emergency assistance to 79 migrants returned to Libya by the coast guard today." It added that, amongst the saved migrants were 13 women and 7 kids. Libya has been swamped in disarray after the ejection and killing of its leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, turning the North African state into a favored point of departure for unlawful migrants who try to cross the Mediterranean Sea towards Europe.
