With health emerging as the number-one issue in the election, the government has dedicated the majority of its top budget highlights to major new investments in health care. Ontario’s health budget is growing by almost $3 billion, the largest annual increase in recent history. The health budget is growing by five per cent to $61.3 billion, including both operating and capital spending. This includes professionals working in Aboriginal Health Access Centres, community health centres, nurse practitioner-led clinics and family health teams. “Help is on its way,” he said, adding that these health professionals have been “under attack” by the Liberals for years.
