The Liberal Democrats have vowed to put income tax up by 1p to raise billions to end the GP crisis. The Liberal Democrats will today unveil plans for a penny on tax to invest £35billion in the health service and social care. Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Jo Swinson (pictured). The 1p rise would apply to the basic, higher and additional rates of income tax, the party said. The measure would not apply to Scotland as income tax policy is devolved.
