Liaison office blasts "extremist radicals” for inciting violent acts

Beijing's Liaison Office lambasted anti-government protesters as “extremist radicals” for inciting people to take part in illegal activities during Friday's Labor Day holiday in a strongly worded statement today. “Can Hong Kong still secure a future if we let their rampage continue?” It said. It also blasted pan-democrats for driving further political and economic destruction in Hong Kong. Police had rejected the request for a Labor Day march on Hong Kong Island, saying that it might pose health risks due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Protesters thus called for a “flash mob” style protests online, but large-scale protests failed to take place as riot police were deployed across Hong Kong yesterday.
