First we learn to understand the spoken language, then we learn to speak, and only after that do we start reading and writing the language. They start by learnt to read and write, which is an artificial way to learn any language. By listening and speaking the language, you can acquire any language very quickly. It’s good to learn many languages but the most important is English because we live in a globalised world and English is the most commonly-spoken language across countries. Yes, it’s good to learn Chinese but if you look at what’s happening in China, they’re learning English in a big way.
