TIME magazine have named Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The TIME 100 list, now in its fifteenth year, recognises the activism, innovation and achievement of the world's most influential individuals. Philip Ryan, political correspondent for the Sunday Independent and co-author of 'Leo: A Very Modern Taoiseach', wrote the entry to accompany Varadkar's photo. Advertisement"The openly gay son of an Indian immigrant, Varadkar decided to come out publicly in the run-up to the world’s first marriage-equality referendum," Ryan writes. While Varadkar may be considered one of the most influential people of the year, a new opinion poll has shown a drop in support for the Fine Gael leader.
