Wonder Woman may already be the highest rated live-action superhero movie ever, but that was not enough to sway Lebanon. The Western Asia nation banned the movie two hours before it was set to premiere in Beirut, in protest of Israeli-born lead Gal Gadot. Lebanon has a law that boycotts Israeli products and prevents Lebanese citizens from having contact with Israeli citizens. However, the Fast and the Furious franchise and Batman vs. Superman were not previously banned, both of which also co-starred Gadot. The group, which labelled Wonder Woman “the Israeli soldier film,” actively attempted to have Batman vs. Superman banned for the same reasons, but were unsuccessful.
