It was another night of river hockey on Wednesday, this one in Philadelphia, where the Flyers emerged with a 5-4 win in a shootout. When most other contenders are amping things up with playoff-style hockey, the Maple Leafs appear to have regressed to pre-season mode. No lead was safe, and this brand of hockey is not quite what’s in store for the Maple Leafs in mid-April in their expected clash against the Boston Bruins. The Leafs refocused to start the third, got a little bit more physical and forced a shootout. “We had lots of opportunities to win the game, but in the end we didn’t win the game,” Leafs coach Mike Babcock told reporters in Philadelphia.
