Lawyers are planning to boycott ALL rape cases in Scotland amid a growing row over SNP plans to push ahead with a pilot for juryless trials. The Scottish Government is coming under major pressure to ditch its proposals for axing a jury for some rape trials and instead having a single judge deciding whether an accused is guilty or not. Simon Brown, of the Scottish Solicitors Bar Association, said all of its branches had agreed to boycott the pilot. A Scottish Government spokesman said: "Piloting judge-only rape trials was a recommendation of a review carried out by Lady Dorrian, Scotland's second most senior judge, to improve how the justice system treats rape victims.
