Law Minister Anisul Huq has stated that the Election Commission (EC) will take necessary measures to hold the presidential election as per the constitution. “Awami League will nominate a candidate for contesting in the polls in due time,” the minister said. He added: “Election Commission will announce the schedule for the presidential polls. We aim to pass the law in the next budget session of the parliament.”When asked whether Awami League has a candidate in mind for the presidential election, Anisul Huq stated: “The party policy makers will nominate a person. We will know who has been nominated after the board makes the announcement.”Addressing the issue of appointing a chief justice, the law minister said: “I have said it many times before, only the president can appoint a chief justice.”
