Law Society Council member Eric Cheung found to have breach confidentiality

Council member of The Law Society of Hong Kong Eric Cheung Tat-ming was accused of disclosing internal documents to a lawmaker of the LegCo. Law Society Council member Eric Cheung Tat-ming was found to have breached his duty of confidentiality by the council's independent panel, after he spilled an internal letter to Civic Party lawmaker Dennis Kwok in March. On March 23, Kwok's newsletter updating his Legco work said he had asked the Bar Council and Law Society to consider implementing relief measures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But in the society's internal letter on March 27, president Melissa Pang said the society had not heard from Kwok and had reached out to Kwok for clarification. However, he acknowledged that he could have spoken to Pang directly, instead of disclosing the extract of the internal letter to Kwok.
