Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2018 and present the Bangla Academy literary award at the opening ceremony tomorrow (February 1). Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2018 will be held on 500,000 square feet of exhibition space across the Bangla Academy premises and the expanded Suhrawardy Udyan showground. At a press conference on Tuesday morning, Bangla Academy director Jalal Ahmed – also member secretary of the fair organising committee – said the fair has been expanded from previous years. The fair premises have been subdivided and named after 12 late literary personalities, with the Bangla Academy premises honouring author Shawkat Ali, who died last week. DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said every preparation had been made to ensure the safety of visitors during his own visit to the fair premises this week.
