The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held their annual awards gala last night in the heart of the garment district at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The likes of Nicole Kidman and Kerry Washington presented awards while Priyanka Chopra and Lupita Nyong'o—among many others—attended as guests. Amidst the champagne (Perrier-Jouet Rosé to be exact) and glamour, the event’s very political and social theme was at the center of the evening. “This year we are celebrating social responsibility,” explains President and CEO of the CFDA, Steven Kolb. Lastly, the Fashion Icon award went to the recently-deceased, longstanding Editor-in-Chief of Italian Vogue, Franca Sozzani.
