Larry Nassar, the disgraced former doctor who worked for both Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, was reportedly stabbed at the United States Penitentiary Coleman in Florida on Sunday. This failure allowed Nassar to continue his abuse for another year before finally pleading guilty in 2017. Michigan State University, who faced intense scrutiny for their handling of the Nassar case, agreed to a $500 million settlement with over 300 victims. This amount far surpassed the $60 million settlement paid by Penn State University to victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. Similarly, USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee reached a $380 million settlement with more than 500 women and girls.
