The Crown wants to put a lane through the land where bar Smash Palace operates. Popular Christchurch bar Smash Palace may close if the Government succeeds in its push to put a laneway through the site. IAIN MCGREGOR/Stuff Smash Palace co-owner Johnny Moore says the bar will have to close if a proposed laneway goes ahead. Smash Palace leases most of its site from Anthony and Joanna Carey, though some also sits on Crown land. He said an existing building to the northwest of Smash Palace had largely determined where the lane could be built.
