Sirhan Sharif Tomal, son of Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, and his entourage on Wednesday assaulted a group of print and TV journalists. The journalists were covering an attack on rival ruling party leader’s convoy in Pabna’s Ishwardi. Confirming the incident, Azim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi police station, said police is yet to receive an official complaint. Tomal was arrested in May this year after he had attacked and vandalized the house of a Chhatra League leader in Ishwardi. According to the case statement, Tomal and 10 other men vandalized the house of upazila Chhatra League President Jubaer Biswas in Aminpara on May 18 over establishing supremacy in the area.
