Land demarcation for Dolura land port done

Dolura will be the district’s first fully-fledged land port that is expected to facilitate Bangladesh’s trade with Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and other Seven Sister states of India, according to officials of Bangladesh Land Port Authority (BLPA). Officials of the District Administration and Customs Office inspected and demarcated 25 acres (10.11 hectares) of land for the port on Thursday. The District Administration would hand over the land to the BLPA for acquisition and the construction works would kick off very soon, BLPA Director (traffic) Md Anis Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune. Of the total land, around 4 hectares would be utilised for constructing immigration centre, customs office and staff quarter while the remaining for the port’s shed, truck terminal and warehouse, he added. Sunamganj Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) President Khairul Huda Chapal hoped that once it becomes operational, the new land port would boost up Bangladesh-India trade as well as the overall economic activity in the district.
