MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has opened an additional 20,000 slots for transport network vehicle service (TNVS) units. The LTFRB yesterday started to accept the application of franchises or certificate of public convenience (CPC) for TNVS operators through online registration. The regulatory board said that they opened the registration since there was “low turnout” for applications of CPCs when it opened 10,000 slots for TNVS units last August. This is a little over half of the 65,000 cap imposed by the board on the number of TNVS units allowed to operate. TNVS operators who would be able to secure their proper provisional authority or CPC are allowed to operate under any of the accredited transport network companies.
