MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will be shouldering all medical expenses of 34 injured passengers in the collision of two coaches of the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2). “We will shoulder the medical expenses of the injured and we will provide all the necessary assistance,” LRTA Administrator Gen. Reynaldo Berroya said in a statement on Sunday. Five were still being treated at the World Citi Medical Center and Quirino Memorial Medical Center while the rest were already released. Likewise, Berroya assured the public that they will immediately resume transit operations once the clearing operations and safety checks have been completed. The collision incident, he said, is considered an “isolated case” and a “first” for the LRT-2 since it was launched in 2003.
