NBOC resumes canvassing of votes from midterm elections


MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassing (NBOC), resumed on Sunday afternoon its session to canvass votes in the recently concluded midterm polls. As of Saturday night, the NBOC had already canvassed a total of 158 certificates of canvass (COCs) out of the total 167 COCs from clustered precincts nationwide. The NBOC suspended its Saturday session pending the transmission of local precincts and from overseas absentee voting. READ: Comelec canvass of midterm votes now at 94.61%Partial and official results showed that re-electionist senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe continue to maintain their lead in the senatorial race. The NBOC first convened its canvassing last Monday but immediately adjourned as no votes were transmitted to the Comelec.
