Authorities in Kufra Municipality have suspended truck traffic to and from Chad after several Libyan citizens were reportedly kidnapped and tortured on Chadian territory. The municipality said the move was a temporary, precautionary step until the safety of the abducted men could be guaranteed. In a statement, officials strongly condemned the attack, calling it a “clear violation of human rights”, and urged Chad to assume full responsibility for protecting Libyans inside its borders and ensuring they are not harmed. The municipality also stressed the need for close coordination between local authorities and community leaders while pursuing the case through legal channels. Footage circulating on social media was said to show Libyan truck drivers being assaulted in Chad, with reports that four men were taken.
