PETALING JAYA: A new Level 1 (alert) heatwave warning has been issued in the district of Kuala Kangsar, Perak, by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia). The district joins several other northern areas of Peninsular Malaysia that had issued similar Level 1 (alert) warnings earlier on Sunday (March 22). This includes the entire state of Perlis; Kedah (Baling, Sik, Pendang, Pokok Sena, Kubang Pasu, Langkawi Island, Kuala Muda and Bandar Baharu); the Timur Laut district of Penang; and Hulu Perak (Perak), all of which are still under Level 1 (alert) heatwave warning. Meanwhile, the earlier Level 2 (heatwave) warning issued for Padang Terap, Kedah, has fortunately been reduced to a Level 1 (alert) in the same report. For the latest up-to-date hot weather status, the public is advised to refer to MetMalaysia’s website https://www.met.gov.my/iklim/status-cuaca-panas/.
