Kottayam: Street dogs killed, tied to a pole and paraded by Kerala Congress (M) activists


In Kottayam town of Kerala, around 10 stray dogs were killed, tied to a pole and paraded on Tuesday. The youth wing of the Kerala Congress (Mani) were protesting against the problem of street dogs in the state. Youth Front President Saji Manjakadambil was quoted saying that they had only culled "dangerous dogs" and that sterilization was not an option. A case has been registered against 15 people under section 428 and 429 of IPC and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty against animals by Kottayam West police. Vetenerary chief surgeon Mohana Chandran Nair performed postmortem of the dead dogs and their internal organs have been sent for forensic examination, police said.
