King Juan Carlos of Spain looked in good spirits as he joined his wife Queen Sofia for lunch in Madrid. The royal couple smiled as they posed for photos at Los Peñotes restaurant last Tuesday, accompanied by a group of friends. Juan Carlos, 80, walked with the help of a stick, chatting happily to his wife as they made their way inside. It was a busy week of engagements for Juan Carlos, who keeps a relatively low-profile since abdicating in 2014. The next generation of Spanish royals have proved more popular, especially Felipe's wife Queen Letizia - often said to be the country's answer to Kate Middleton.
