Public health officers in Kilifi are on high alert after a child died from cholera last Monday. Five relatives who came into contact with the child before his death have tested positive for vibrio cholera virus. "The five-year-old child had been admitted at a private health institution ... the family members have been admitted at Kiwandani dispensary," said county Health director Bilali Mazoya on Thursday. “We have also distributed 960 bottles of water guard and 900 cholera facts sheets to the households in the region," he said.
