Kidero blamed for return of violent street urchins to Nairobi CBD

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero’s administration has overseen the return of street urchins in the CBD, traders and residents have complained. The Youth and Social Services department under which the rehabilitation of street families falls has been allocated Sh90 million in 2016-17. Traders and pedestrians have accused the county government of letting the street families back into the CBD. "The county government does not give birth to street urchins and they are not there because of action or inaction of the county," Kidero said. "There were no street urchins in the CBD before March 2013 and the few who sneaked in were not as daring as the ones we are seeing in Nairobi today," a resident said.
