Khaleda asked to appear before Dhaka court Nov 27

A Dhaka court on Sunday set November 27 for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before the court in connection with 11 cases, including one filed over sedition charges. Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges’ Court passed the order after accepting separate time petitions filed by Khaleda’s counsel Md Sanaullah Miah. The court was scheduled for hearing on the charge framing against Khaleda and others accused in 10 cases, and for the hearing on the charge sheet acceptance in another case. In the time petitions, Khaleda’s counsel sought adjournment of the hearing, saying that Khaleda could not appear before the court as she is now in London for treatment and the High court had also stayed trial proceedings in most of the cases. The other case was filed with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court against Khaleda over her remarks abuot the number of martyrs during the 1971 Liberation War.
