FREDERICTON—Former House of Commons sergeant-at-arms Kevin Vickers is expected to announce Friday whether he intends to seek the Liberal leadership in New Brunswick. Vickers has been touted as a possible candidate for the Liberal leadership to replace former premier Brian Gallant. The New Brunswick Liberal party won just 21 seats in last fall’s provincial election — one fewer than the Tories. Rene Ephestion, who leads the New Brunswick Liberal Multicultural Inclusion Commission, has also expressed an interest in running for the party’s leadership. As of Wednesday afternoon, Liberal party officials said they had not received paperwork from any candidate.
