Yemen’s war pits the government against the Shiite Houthi rebels and allied army units loyal to a former president. Negotiators representing the Houthis and their allies ended up stranded in Oman, but were allowed to return to Yemen under the latest deal. He said the effort “also secured the release of two American citizens from the Houthis. We call for the immediate and unconditional release of any other U.S. citizens who may still be held,” it said.
