Keramat tahfiz tragedy: IGP non-committal on whether suspects' parents will face legal action

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said this today when he was asked if the seven boys were likely to be charged next week. We are still waiting for reports from parties like the Chemist Department, Fire and Rescue Department. Asked if the police would consider recommending charging the suspects’ parents in court, Fuzi said the police would examine all angles. Fuzi was speaking to reporters after chairing a special task force meeting on tahfiz schools, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. As reporters pressed him on whether legal action against the boys' parents would serve as a lesson to others, Fuzi said it depends on the police's recommendations later.
